Athletes and hypnosis: Golfer Elsa Ho “I so happy when I woke up this morning that it for real, I am the 2009 Ladies Champion at Highland Gate. ” (Toronto, Canada)
Elsa is one of my clients, who graciously wrote this email about our hypnosis sessions, as she explains to a friend how I helped her.
"Angela has acted as a catalyst for me. I have been listening to all CDs, the Secret, Bob Rotella's entire series of golf mental game CDs. They have helped me to improve with my attitude and mental game.
Bob has become my caddy. He talks to me while play and I still do. But his lines are the millions of molecules in almost saturated solution (science 101), Angela has acted like a catalyst for me so that all these words/lines/thoughts crystallized.
I heard them before and I still hear them during these two rounds, but Angela has changed my attitude so that I actually believe that I can do as Bob tells me to."
Athletes and hypnosis: Rod Carew Perhaps one of the most famous examples of hypnosis assisting a sportsman, is the story of Rod Carew, one of American baseballs finest. Carew had suffered an injury, which while technically had healed, left him nonetheless with some pain (perhaps psychosomatic, but real enough to him), and an elevated sense of self doubt.
A hypnotist was consulted, and he was instructed in mastering self hypnosis.Carew then came back to the best season of his entire career, with a batting score of almost .400, and went on to win 'The most valuable player award'!

Athletes and hypnosis: Swimmer “Thompson at large”-The inner athlete writes:
In researching this article, I discovered for myself the truth of (Michael) Murphy's Law when I spoke with athletes bound for the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta. They were willing to talk about their uncanny experiences, but only off the record. A Virginia distance runner said that after a hard workout, he sometimes closes his eyes and sees what appear to be organs, blood vessels, muscles, and cells.
An Ohio swimmer described being able "while swimming, to see the entire pool from a larger, raised-up perspective and anticipate the movements of other swimmers." Source “Thompson at large”-The inner athlete.

She had done the same on hundreds of previous nights, visualizing herself performing all her routines perfectly--imaging in her mind all the moves and rehearsing them again and again. The result, of course, was a performance of perfection, presented with charm, poise and confidence, culminating in a gold medal.
"Your mind does not know the difference between fantasy and reality, so what you picture in your mind, the body can achieve!" Proof of that statement has been provided countless times. Mary Lou pictured a perfect performance in her mind. Her body produced it.
Athletes and hypnosis: Michael Jordan Phil Jackson (NBA head coach) insists that the Chicago Bulls practiced daily self-hypnosis when he coached Michael Jordan and the Bulls to their 6 NBA Championships.
