Janet Jackson's weight loss has inspired many, add hypnosis and you are on your way to the body of your dreams.
Everyone seems to be talking about Janet Jackson's weight loss. She lost her weight in
about 4 months, which is even more amazing some would say, since she just turned 40.
Janet is now 44, but at the time there
were reports that she lost between 50lbs to 60lbs, but no matter how much
she lost, it came off very quickly and
she looks great even today.
The fact is if you want to lose weight fast you can, but as a former
Olympic athlete,
I was taught very early about good nutrition, sensible eating, and healthy gradual weight loss. However, millions of women just like Janet have been losing weight quickly for years. The question is do you want to spend your life on such a yo yo diet treadmill or do you want to keep it off with hypnosis. I don't know if Janet Jackson's weight loss included hypnosis, and I guess it probably didn't, since that has yet to be reported, but if you want to keep the weight off, hypnosis can help. Hypnosis combined with a good weight loss regime can help overweight people shed pounds and keep them off. People every where are calling obesity a disease, because it leads to an increased risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and other illnesses. The truth is over eating is a habit. All habits can be changed and replaced with other habits. Hypnosis helps you break that habit at the unconscious level where habits are created. If you are overweight your goal may be to lose between 10-20lbs, while others that fall into the obese range may want to lose more than 30lbs. The good news is if you lose only 5% - 15% of your total body weight, you can reduce the risk for some of the above mentioned illnesses. How many calories to reduce?Men need more calories than women, but both men and very active women may need up to 2,500 calories daily. Less active women, and inactive men, need only about 2,000 calories daily. A safe weight loss plan is to eat 300 to 500 fewer calories a day to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. Yes you can lose more weight, but that can become stressful, which can lead to the opposite of your goals and expectations. For example, Janet Jackson's weight loss of between 50lbs to 60lbs means she had to have lost about 3-4lbs per week. For some people that works out fine, because of their natural set point (discussed below), but many experience stressful events like headaches, bad breath, and muscle cramping, because the weight came off too quickly. The result is the body puts up an instinctual fight or flight response to such drastic weight loss. Hypnosis is not a magic bullet. While hypnosis can be a very successful process, and it can change the way you see yourself, it is not a magic bullet. The truth is most people seeking to reduce their weight have different reasons for carrying the extra inches and these reasons can be complex. If your intention is to use hypnosis for weight loss, be very wary of miraculous claims of instant results in one session. Many of you by now know the popular saying, "If life were like that you would not need Visa." Well the same applies to weight loss. If it only took one hypnosis session to reduce the heaviness, there would be no obesity epidemic. In fact, obesity is a pandemic as it effects over 250 million people, and is felt in many parts of the developed world. Diet verses lifestyle change? It mattersJanet Jackson's weight loss has clearly demonstrated how easy it is to lose fat, and has inspired many women to seek to do the same. Inspiration is great, but what many people do not know is when you start thinking that you are on yet another diet, this will immediately cause your body to begin to store food for the impending starvation. The word diet has many negative connotations in our culture including, stress, and anxiety. As soon as the mind receives a signal that it is going to have to starve (diet), it triggers your body's instinctual fight or flight response. It is the bodies' most basic survival instinct and is hard wired for your self-preservation.
Stress causes your body to release cortisol, which in turn has the effect that your body stores fat. Along with this stress hormone, the hormones epinephrine and norepinephrine that constitute the fight or flight response are released, because of the perceived threat. Losing weight must be a lifestyle change. You should make a conscious decision, which is received by the brain that the change is for the health and safety of the body. Otherwise you will be fighting a losing battle against instinct, and the body will store fat for the diet (starvation). One of the greatest signals to your body is the release of endorphins, which literally means morphine produced naturally in the body, so it is your body's own happy drug. This occurs during rigorous exercise, and I usually experience it between 20 to 30 minutes into my weight workout. By combining an excellent workout with a sensible weight loss program you can achieve your desired body image. The reality of individual differences is set point. One of the main reasons that Janet Jackson's weight loss, could occur so dramatically has to do with her set point. Set point is your unique body's range of weight when you are at your healthiest. Set point involves a number of factors including genetics, eating habits, and activity level. Janet has spent more of her life thin than fat. Her natural metabolism (rate at which calories are used) is faster than many of the women that are inspired to lose weight like her. As mentioned above, survival is your body's most basic instinct, and when you go below your body's natural set point, your metabolism will react and start to slow down to try and conserve energy, believing it is a state of starvation. However, so many over weight people are no where near their natural set point, and the issue becomes how to get there.
This article talks about how to lower your set point for better health.
Hypnosis defined. An article titled “Altered States” that appeared in Newsweek Magazine on September 27, 2004 quotes Dr. David Spiegel, professor and associate chair of psychiatry at Stanford University School of Medicine, as saying Hypnosis is “a form of highly focused attention,”—an induced state of mind that enables people to alter the way they perceive and process reality. Hypnosis for weight loss focuses on the whole person.
Here are the many ways hypnosis can help with weight loss.
Hypnosis can help you keep the weight offHypnosis can change inertia into action over night, but it still needs to be followed up with lots of repetition, and persistence until a new habit is formed. Once you have established this new habit of eating, you create permanent neural pathways to good health, and then you are on your way to life long changes. Hypnosis helps you to feel like you are in control of your body, and not the other way around.
