Resveratrol side effects

Resveratrol side effects are of great interest to me as an Olympic medalist and health advocate or promoter. You are wondering about the side effects of resverotal and I have outlined some that I have noticed since taking the product.

Resveratrol has been taunted as being the next big anti-aging nutrient that can be taken in pills or liquid format. Talking about liquids, if you want to get resveratrol in a drink, then red wine is the one to consume. Red wine for some time now has been shown to have numerous health benefits, which may include reduced risk of heart attacks. This is an interesting article about the health benefits of wine.

However, being a health advocate, I am aware of the calories in just one small glass of red wine. The more alcohol in the wine the more calories it contains, which is not great for the waist line. Read this article that talks about the calories in wine.

Despite the high caloric content, wine has its benefits in moderation, and is great especially once you have gained your ideal body weight. Researchers believe it is the resveratrol found in the skin of the grapes that gives wine its many health benefits. I talk about the benefits of resveratrol here.

There is very little known about resveratrol side effects mainly because it has not been available to the public for very long. However, I have been taking it for over 6 months now and have noticed several effects.

Lack of Appetite

Firstly, I noticed that after taking resveratrol first thing in the morning, I am not hungry for at least 4 to 5 hours later. The product that I am taking only requires a dosages of 30 ml per day. When I have an especially busy day it dawns on me that I haven’t eaten since the morning. At that point, I will eat mainly, because I know long breaks between eating can slow down my metabolism. Although I must admit that has not been a problem in my case.

Tendinitis pain

Secondly, I noticed that my achilles were tight. Now I am one of the lucky athletes that has never had achilles problem, so any tightness would be unusual The tightness became severe enough that it was interfering with my workouts. I was unable to sprint, run or do my drills. I could only do my weight lifting.

Arthritic Joint numbness

I have noticed some numbness and swelling in my fingers and toes, which again is unusual. My big toe is tender to the touch.

The results: I stopped taking the product, because of the resveratrol side effects for 2 weeks.

After this 2 week break, I noticed that the tendinitis pain disappeared, and I was back to doing my sprinting without any pain.

I was hungry right after my workout.

Finally, the joint numbness subsided a bit. I felt less pain in my big toe, and as a result my work out was easier. However, I am still experiencing some swelling in my fingers.

I will continue to monitor the symptoms in my body and update this page once I have something definitive to report back. I must say I am a bit surprised by the result. It shows that just because a product is natural, it doesn’t mean that it is without side effects.

Personally, sprinting and drills are an important part of my daily exercise routine, so I will lay off this particular product for a while.
