Personal trainer to the stars
I am an
Olympic Medalist
and personal trainer to the stars and my clients have ranged from politicians, actors, senior executives, and athletes. On the other hand, I have trained just about every age group, gender and calibre of individual from those that simply want to eliminate stubborn belly fat to those aspiring to become Olympic athletes. I love working out and I enjoy helping others become the best that they can be. As an Olympic athlete, I have demonstrated and explained to personal trainers the rationale for the high level workouts and drills I did with my clients. Many of the personal trainers did not understand that the workouts were based on important and advanced research done in countries and places like Russia, Colorado Springs Olympic training centre, and University of California, Los Angeles(UCLA), just to name a few. I found that while many personal trainers had a few weeks or months of in class education and theory they were unable to apply the theory to practice. Some even questioned the speed at which my medicine ball drills could recruit muscle fibre, and turn them into quality muscle definition. I was not surprised that they had never seen such workouts, since they originated from Russia. The personal training field is unregulated and even so called recognized certifying bodies will allow anyone that takes their courses to become a personal trainer, regardless of experience. I had to train certified personal trainers on the biomechanics of movement, which is a core of kinesiology, especially as related to sprinting drills. I often cringed when I watched certified personal trainers training their clients using these sprinting drills with improper technique or worst still having them do drills their bodies were not yet ready for. As a personal trainer to the stars and an Olympian, I bring decades of experience learned on the track , in the kitchen and in the weight room. On the track, I ran one of the fastest times in the world that ranked me top four on the planet, and it is still the fastest time ever ran in Canada at a time of 10.98s for the 100m. In the kitchen, I was first taught nutrition at the age of 11 when I competed for the athletic club
Coventry Godiva Harriers
, ( in England) at the mini Olympics in West Germany. Those first lessons help me to ignore much of the current hype about super diets and fads, and help me educate my clients with confidence. Nutrition is fundamental to fitness whether your goal is superior health or to stand on the Olympic podium. The lessons in the weight room came later and began seriously at UCLA when I was trained by Olympic coaches
Bob Kersee
and
Pat Connolly
both coaches of world record holders
Jackie Joyner
and
Evelyn Ashford, respectively.
My clients think of me as one of a few celebrity personal trainers that are not about hype, but truly about delivering value added service. If you look around this site you will notice that I have a strong back ground in psychology, especially hypnosis, visualization and imagery. Self hypnosis was fundamental in allowing me to overcome some of my fear when it came to reaching my goal to be an Olympic champion. I use that knowledge to help my clients overcome obstacles of all kinds when it comes to performing their best whether acquiring good health or gaining superior fitness.
