Stage Fright Hypnosis Tips

As an Olympic athlete, I offer you stage fright hypnosis advice, essentially because everyone finds it impossible to believe that I ever suffered from stage fright.

I often hear people say to me you competed and won an Olympic medal in front of one hundred thousand people at the Olympics, so nothing can make you afraid.

The truth is I did have a very difficult time when I stood in front of people to give speeches. My reasons were varied, but that is for another article. For now, I want to focus on the physical manifestations of stage fright.

As I say I did, because it is in my past, but I work on it everyday. When you suffer from any form of anxiety, you often find yourself frustrated with the way your body reacts to very normal mundane events.

However, it is best to be patient and kind to yourself, because the more stress and frustration you add to the problem the worse the symptoms get.

Stage fright hypnosis tip 1

Get out and join your local speaking group. You have to take action, and participate in speaking groups to decrease stage fright in all of its various forms.

It is better to join a group that is for beginners. you do not want to surround yourself with people who are seasoned public speakers, because that will make you feel even more pressured to perform at a level you have yet to achieve.

You can visit your local Toastmasters. The Toastmaster groups have various locations, and often comprise of individuals that want to improve their speaking skills in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Many such clubs allow you to visit 3 times before they ask you to join. There is even a Toastmasters club for people that specifically suffer from mental or anxiety disorders, which may or may not be for you.

Did you know that every time someone stands in front of an audience to speak the human body reacts in a well defined manner? That's right even Oprah. Speaking in public or to an audience activates the adrenal glands, creating an active energy force.

When you think of the adrenal gland you should think of stress. Your heartbeat quickens. Your breathing becomes shallow and more rapid. You feel like you will suffocate. Your muscles tense.

If you are not aware of this response, then when it happens to you it is so overwhelming, that you can begin to sweat, display knocking knees, become very red from embarrassment, lose your memory of your prepared lines, speech, etc.

Awareness of the adrenal gland's reaction to speaking in public can help you prepare for speaking. Knowing how your body reacts allows you to use devices to decrease the stress response such as hypnosis.

It is now a well know fact that hypnosis can and is used in many areas including stress reduction. Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness that allows the body to achieve an extremely high level of relaxation.

Once the body is relaxed then it can be given suggestions. Suggestions are special hypnotic language that the subconscious mind understands and will accept under the right conditions.

When you use hypnosis to relax the adrenal response, then you cannot be stressed at the same time. You are either stress or relaxed, but not stress and relaxed at the same time. Knowing this you can use stage fright hypnosis to help you overcome stage fright.
