Stop Smoking Tips to help you quit in 21 days.

A few stop smoking tips to ponder before you start your 21 day process:

1. Write down every cigarette you smoke, the exact time of the smoke.

2. What was the reason you had the cigarette? Was boredom involved? Were you stressed? Maybe you were out with your friends.

3. What did you get out of it? Emotionally or Physically? Were you able to escape from a boring conversation? Are you using it to loose weight?

Stop Smoking tip 4. Throw out all cigarettes, cigarette lighters and ashtrays in your home, car and place of work.

Quit Smoking tip 5. Second hand smoke kills, just the same as smoking, so don't let people smoke around you.

Quit Smoking tip 6. What if anything, helped you to quit in the past? Think about what worked and what didn't. Write down what was successful, and the reasons for resuming the habit.

Quit Smoking tip 7. Let your friends, family and co-workers know of your intention to quit. Ask for their support and encouragement, and request that they not smoke around you.

Stop Smoking tip 8. Seek professional help, if you have tried on your own and been unsuccessful. There is drug therapy such as the patch, hypnotherapy, or support groups. You may need therapy to get to the root cause of the smoking.Stop Smoking tip 9. Drink a lot of water to help flush the nicotine out of your system. Eight 8oz glasses of water a day is recommended.

Quit Smoking tip 10. Substitute alcohol and coffee for decaffeinated green tea for 21 days or because of its benefits you may decide to drink it indefinitely.

Green tea contains antioxidants in the form of catechins. Antioxidants help neutralize molecules known as oxygen free radicals that can damage body cells and potentially lead to disease.

Free radicals are natural byproducts of normal body processes, but they are also generated by external sources like tobacco smoke. The tea protects against cell death, and is a great way to flush the nicotine from your body.

Stop Smoking tip 11. Listen to relaxation tapes or practice self hypnosis to reduce stress. Go for a walk, take a relaxing bath, try healthy activities to reduce stress. Plan your 21 days of fun activities.

Stop Smoking tip 12. Everything in life requires patience and determination. So if you fail, remember what your intention is, and see the failure only as a temporary obstacle.

It took me ten years to set the Canadian 100m record of 10.98s, which was was set in 1987, and still stands. Anything worth doing takes some effort.

Naturally, quitting smoking is not as difficult as sprinting, so plan to do it faster and in less time. The key is the plan. Make sure you have one, and write it down.

Quit Smoking tip 13. Increase your calcium intake. Increase from 1000mg to 1500mg. You can also take calcium by chewing Rolaids, or calcium rich Tums, because as the nicotine lives your body so does the calcium.

Quit Smoking tip 14. After you quit smoking you may put some weight on. Any more than two to three pounds and you will have found yourself another addiction.

So be aware, and start walking after each meal, begin an exercise routine, and stay active. Green tea is also great for weight loss.

Stop Smoking tip 15. For each of the fist 5 days eat three oranges, or pink grapefruits per day. Morning, noon and at dinner is best. As the nicotine leaves your system, the sugar also drops, because tobacco is cured in sugar. After 5 days you can change the variety.

Quit Smoking tip 16. Take vitamin B-complex for stress. Because smoking is a nervous habit, the nicotine settles the nerves, and you may feel stressed after its removal.

Quit Smoking tip 17. On the 5th day the nicotine will be gone from your body and you will feel better. On the tenth day, you’ll feel real good because all your blood cells will be oxygenated.

On the 21st day you will have laid new neural networks for becoming a non smoking.

Stop Smoking tip 18. See "I am a non smoker script." Tape it (change it the way you need to) and listen to it at night before you go to bed for 21 days. Never listen to the tape when you are driving or handling heavy machinery.
